Here's a question...

I'm going to be doing stuff for Deviant art and Hentai Foundry, so I'm going to need to think of things to draw. This isn't always so easy. I basically need to get the hang of what would be good to do as a stand alone drawing or pinup. A situation, or scene, or subject for a good pinup.

So if you have a suggestion for what might make a good illustration, let me know. I'm not guaranteeing that I'll do your suggestion, but it may spark some inspiration on my part.

  1. Well. You could always do an amusing piece of a character grabbing some kind of mystic object and having her breasts expand. Or her clothes be vaporized by it.

  2. Jessica Rabbit seems to be a popular subject.

  3. Never read any of her comics (or even know if there are any) but Dawn pinups are all over the web. If you are set on doing a character in your own style that a large niche fan base can recognize - - that people are sure to look at in comparison to other artist, she'd be good. I at least know who Vamperella is, the two of them seem to always be drawn either together or by same artist.

However, if you are looking to shop yourself out, follow what you do on your site. Just in pinup form. ISM stuff focusing more on the "slightly undressing" of a "startled" model. Alien invader (a la 50's style) abducting a pinup. Gold/Silver age style comic heorines. Full out SciFi / Fantasy; andriod v cyborg females, vampress, ghost, sorceress/witches. I mean there's not a shortage of sources you can pick from.

You could even spoof known memes i.e. Scooby Doo meme (Buff dude, hot nerd chick, hotter hot chick, Stoner and his Dog) Cool thing about that is you can go out of your way to make them not look like the source meme, but the mind of viewers will do the work for ya. You have a distinguishable style that your fans can easily recognize, but new comers simply need to see a lil more of it to be hooked. I know you may not want to do cheesecake and fluff, but well, the lighter stuff will float around faster then the hardcore. And that will get you the traffic you want of potentials.

    1. Wow! Excellent answer, Meachy! As usual! All I can say is...OK! All great ideas here.

  4. I'm a little late to the party but I have been following you on Catfight Central for a while. So my suggestions would be along those lines - I always like the final shot of a fight - triumphant if slightly mussed winner, bruised and submissive loser - and maybe an amused onlooker or two.
Then of course there's the old pulp cover formula - BEEM, Babe, Bum = big-eyed monster, babe and the hero. Although you might find it more fun to turn it around and have the beem rescuing the babe from the bum. I'll wrap it up by saying how much I like your art and wish you much success.

    1. Thanks for the kind words, Anon. I like the suggestion. I've always struggled with how to stage these stories, which may be why I've had extra fun doing them.

  5. Chicks wrestling is always good, perhaps some domination of the loser by the winner sort of thing. There's a dearth of such things on HF, so that might make you popular. As Meachy said, things like superhero, fantasy, horror, scifi, and steampunk pinups will get noticed fast, especially if they're PG-13 and on deviantArt.

  6. I've been urged to do the PG stuff for DA and I think it's a good idea if I can pull the time together, which has been a real problem. HF looks real promising and I have one piece for them underway, anyway. I want to do a couple of more before I post there. Many things to do and not enough time. Other responsibilities eating up my schedule like crazy right now.

    1. You have the same opinion of HR departments as I do! Only not as fun as one with tentacles...
