Women Of The Screen that inspire me: Valerie Leon

I'm going to be putting up some photos of special women I've seen on TV and at movies that have really become my anima, as according to Jung. That is, these are the women who speak to me in my dreams and are the inspiration behind the kind of women I like to draw. And look at. They are strong, intelligent, and robust, the kind of woman I am married to, in fact. In her I see echoes of Ligea the Vampire MILF, and Jane Deerborn, two of the characters I've created.

My first is Valerie Leon, a Hammer beauty who did all of one movie with them: Blood of the Mummy's Tomb. (I recently watched Blood for the first time on Netflix streaming. I don't know if it's still there, but do catch it if you can. It's a pretty good flick!)

Her big claim to fame in my part of the world is that she was the beautiful woman featured in the Hai Karate commercials in the late 60's. I think I sort of "imprinted" on her. She has always seemed to me the personification of sex. Cool, sophisticated, intelligent. I never have got over her, happily.

She was also a Bond girl and was on various TV shows over the years, some goofy looking British movies, even a Space 1999 that I'm going to have to dig up sometime.

Besides her obvious busty charms, her profile is amazingly seductive and she has a long, gorgeous neck set against her thick sexy luxurious hair. Oddly it's hard to find a still photo on the web that catches how beautiful she is, IMO. The first one in my collection does do her some justice, though. Watch Blood on the Mummy's Tomb and you'll see what I mean.

Galaxy Of Horror

There's a Roger Corman movie out there called Galaxy Of Terror that maybe you've seen. In it is this really interesting scene of a woman being raped by...hold onto your seats...a GIANT MAGGOT! Yep. You read it right. Giant maggot. Raped by. Musta been bad acid that guy was on when he wrote the screenplay.

It features the very comely actress, Taafe O'Connel, pictured below, and a really cheezy fake giant maggot. There's an edited version that's a bit disappointing that you'll probably want to overlook.

So naturally I'll be doing a more explicit version of the rape scene for my website and it will be entitled Galaxy Of Horror. Lots more rubbin' and slimin' and watchin' the thing's thingy goin' in and out...whew!

Here are a couple of pages for you to enjoy. One is a 'wireframe' line drawing which I like better than the finished version I did, and the other is finished in pencil, though still needs background and a reaching Giant Maggot added in.

Cumm All Ye Faithful

Here we have a page from a story I did for myself some time ago...over ten years ago, I'm thinking. It's called Cumm All Ye Faithful and is obviously set in a church in the burbs. This is as close to social commentary as I ever get, it seems like. And it's not too pointed, I don't think. I guess if there is a point it probably is that I've always considered church to be the best place you could go to get laid. It sure was in my own experience! Nothing like repression as well as rebellious daughters!

This church has a real underground thing going on. Pretty much everyone is screwing each other on the sly. This is the story of a young eighteen year old fella that get's molested by the church lady in a back room during the services and is watched by an eighteen year old girl and the wife of the Reverend. Said wife is stacked with the big hair...my favorite. It's sort of a domino effect story where the lad gets passed from pussy to pussy all in one afternoon.

Here is a fragment of a scene where the young fella is mobbed by the local church ladies who have all sorts of things for him to "help" them with. Word got around, it seems. If churches usually had this many stacked women going there, male attendance would go through the ceiling!

I think I dropped this one because I thought the women were dressed too shamelessly and I wanted some frumpiness to go with the amazing bodies.

Most of the art for this story is some of my earliest and is nearly illegible due to repeated erasures, so I probably wont post much of it. Again, look for a future re-do of this story on my pending website.

Two more random pages and a long winded comment

Interesting to look at what pictures download the most relative to the other pictures. Somewhat annoyingly, the sample I have from SuperHeroineComixx is the most downloaded piece here. I don't blame anyone for liking this piece. It is my working example of where I ought to go as far as the look of my work goes. Also the Superheroine audience is considered to be the most stable audience, more than Scifi, horror, etc. (I'm thinking the MILF/younger guy thing might outpace the superheroine stuff...and it may be what I do best anyway. We shall see!)

I hope you don't feel likes rats in an experiment as I look at statistics and natter on about them. Starting the website naturally moves attention to my audience and what they want to see. One has to do a lot of hard thinking about this as I figure out what you like vs. what I like doing the best. Luckily I could focus on any of the categories I've mentioned that will people my website and be very happy.

And then once I settle into a direction I will try to forget about all of the demographic stuff so my work doesn't get too self conscious or dishonest. Wish me luck on that. Tough row to hoe, y'know. (Yeah, I'm a farm boy. This is what I filled my head with while I worked on my dad's farm. You ever try to chop cotton with a boner? Whoo!

So you guys like the painted stuff best, seemingly detached from subject. I'll move into doing fully rendered stuff more and more over time.

Following that, the female combat work is as popular as the MILF stuff, I'm thinking. Exception to that is the Sasquatch piece I have up that's been really popular. It's funny so that helps.

Note: my site will feature everything you see me doing on Catfightcentral and Monsterbabecentral. All the characters you've seen me do will be coming over here, though I'll continue to have work show up on Monsterbabes.

I need to try out the superheroine stuff and get some feedback since I have so little of it on the blog here. Gotta get to work on THE CODE which will be my opening salvo. It features "stick up their ass" assholes, a mad scientist with a giant head, a luckless lackey, and a busty super babe tied to a table. It's going to have a retro sixties-ish look to things and will be inspired by the sixties Legion of Super Heroes, The Mighty Heroes, Thunder Agents, and the Sixties Justice League. Simple and easily torn off uniforms, chest symbols, masks, secret identities and so forth. I will be fleshing out the characters more than is usually found on this sort of site.

There will be a character probably with her own storyline that will be modeled on Bewitched. A housewife who is a superheroine with a nervous husband. I'll be shooting for a Samantha Stevens look on this lady too. And catfight stuff will naturally show up in the superhero stories.

Anyway, here is a sketchbook page I did a while back featuring possible superheroes. This will be the look of things even if I don't use these specific characters.

HNY, everyone. Looking out the window at the first snow of the year I'm hopeful that it is an omen of good things to come.

Speaking of good things, I've been doing some updating of my labels, seen to your left, and would urge newbies to check out the labels, Sketchbook, What We Did Last Summer, Big Tits, MILF, mermaids, colored pencils, and Invisible Sex Maniac. Don't rely only on the favorites list, now.

Website news: this week should be the end of the coding nightmare. I have some stuff uploaded but not ready to see yet. In the next week I should complete everything on my end and then we wait for the credit card people to approve the site. That will take an unknown amount of time. HOPEFULLY we'll be up and running in Jan. But I've been wrong before...

Sorry about the long lag in posts. I've been under the weather yet again and have also had, like you all, the holidays to survive. I should be showing signs of life again soon. That or someone will throw dirt on me and say a few words...

Okay, these are two of MY favorites. I don't know if anyone out there agrees with me, but there you are.

Sasquatch in the first story I did for him with my favorite title of all time. The splash panel is from one of the Full Rock stories I did.

The Full Rock story is just a goddam nice piece of work, if I do say so. I fully used my anatomy chops...I drew this cold with no reference, mind you...and got the figure's volume right. The only kick I have against it is that the boobs are so balloony. I'm trying to avoid that these days since they should look soft and more conical than these melons are.

I remember spending a fair amount of time on this splash page, and I remember thinking that I couldn't afford to keep doing that since it took too long. I truly hate that I have to take that so much into consideration when I work right now.

Hopefully the website will allow me to take my time on things...time will tell.

Sector 13 Pandora Box unused

Here are a couple of pages of rough pencils for Sector 13's latest entry, The Pandora Box. These pages show unused frames and as you can see in page one, I had an ending for the story that differed from the one that was finally done. I was going to do these frames in addition to the ones that are in the finished piece, but I just plain ran outta time and had to cut somewhere so I left the horrifying ending as one of those things we'll never know. Not a bad ending but it feels incomplete. I hope to be able to get around these time restrictions on my own site.

Scaffolding of the website is up

We're testing the site now. Nothing is on it yet, we're just making sure the buttons do what they're supposed to. Next is credit card stuff and final tweaks, which is still a chunk to do. But the worst of it is over.

It's been a real task since M9 is creating an entirely new site that will contain myself and other artists as well.In the future this process will only take a short amount of time to finish up. I'm the guinea pig, the first one there, so all the mistakes will be made and fixed on my turn round. Shakedown cruise, in other words.

Hopefully this will resolve itself quickly and then I'll be scattering my banners hither and yon and will be settling into the routine of cranking out stuff for my own site.

What We Did On Summer Break Part 1

Okay, so I figured you all might like to see one of my old stories that I worked on in dribs and drabs over the years. It's long and sadly unfinished, but I promise a reworked version of this will eventually appear on my site. And more importantly, it's gonna have an ending, by Gar!

So here it is, started in what looks like the late eighties (Buns O' Steel being something you could buy on TV only back then) and finishes up fairly recently. You get to see all the erasures, paper scarring from overworking on a face here and there, and worst of all, my lettering. I lettered these things never dreaming that someday I might actually show them to anyone! So if you can read it all, you win the rubber banana!

It's long at least for me. This is the first batch. More to come in the next day or two...

Oh yeah. Everyone in this imaginary story has lived in this imaginary world for at least eighteen imaginary years. No imaginary underage minors anywhere!

Checking Stats FYI

I check my visitors on Statcounter pretty much every day mostly to see how many visitors I've had, how many are returning visitors, which post is getting hit the most, etc. I especially pay attention to returning visitors, since you returners are my troops!

I only get info about the city and cable company a given visitor is coming from, nothing else. I have no idea who you folks are or anything.

I only know that SOMEONE IN BROOKLYN LOVES MY STUFF! WHOA! Keep it up, man! You're number one as far as I can tell!

Big Boob Trailer Park Slapdown 2

Sorry about the absence. I was under the weather a few days. A great way to spend the holidays! I ignored pretty much everything. I'm pretty sure I just needed a rest, and sometimes my body gets sick so I'll stop and relax. The trick now is to plan to rest so I don't have work disrupted. Wish me luck.

I did this story pretty fast but didn't stint on backgrounds or the look of things. This means my workflow is getting to be more efficient and I am able to do more storytelling in the time allotted. I do the amount of work I can do in the time I have to do it. The amount of work I can do is going up. This story I managed to do with more panels per page and I had backgrounds in the frame more often. This makes me much more happy with the finished product.

If you are an artist interested in acquiring a workflow for digital comic art I can recommend the book "The DC Comics Guide to Digitally Drawing Comics" by Freddie E. Williams II. Using this book I've made some small adjustments to how I work that didn't seem like much at first, but made a big difference in time use.

Here are some changes I've made over the last few months:

All drawing is now done digitally, no more scanning sketches.Start to finish on the computer. It took me a while to get used to drawing on the computer for some reason, but I'm more comfortable now after about a year of working with it.

I've broken my workflow into more distinct stages that help me keep my mind clear as I work. (It's easy to get lost or fall into fussing over your work if you don't do this) Specifically I do something called "wireframe" which means in one of several stages, I do all the line work with a digital brush that gives me a uniform ink line. Then I go back over the line work with a larger digital brush to add accents to lines. This gives you variety of line right away and for some reason takes less time than trying to fully ink as I go. This is a big deal.

I've stopped working so extemporaneously and have begun thumbnailing the story out before I start. Again, this suprisingly saves a lot of time. Working things out as you go is not a fast way to work and leaves you with some weird looking frames sometimes.

Anyway this one was more fun to do than many I've done lately. I even worked in a character based on a guy I went to High School with that had frizzy hair and always wore a beercan hat. He had a deadpan, dry sense of humor and would have liked the take on him that I have in the story. Alas, he seems to be living off the grid since I can't find him anywhere online. I hope he's still with us.

The umbrella site that my website will be a part of has added a level of complexity to the undertaking that has complicated the construction of the site. In other words, we're still working the bugs outta the thing. And then we have to wait on Visa on top of all of that.

You may have noticed that I don't do characters from a lot of different racial backgrounds. This is because I am wary of stumbling over some sort of racial stereotype without meaning to. As I work out what I personally am comfortable doing in this area over time, you should be seeing more of the world's varied population inhabiting my imaginary world. But for now I am deferring from breaching the subject at all.

So you wont see anything on my blog and website that will be promoting any stereotypes of any race of people. I want people to come in, have a pleasant time, and not leave feeling insulted.

Let me tell you why I'm bringing up all of this heavy stuff.

I detest the idea of moderating posts on my blog. Today I've had the unpleasant task of actually taking down a post from someone who sort of incidentally made reference to a racial group that made me feel pretty uncomfortable. As this sort of thing goes, it probably wasn't all that awful. If we were talking face to face it would have simply gone past and it simply would have been beneath my attention . But when you write something on a blog it is more permanent, more emphatic because it doesn't ever go away.

I know, I know. This is hardly the kind of place to be 'politically correct'. But I have traveled around in my time and have friends from everywhere you could name. So when someone uses a term that refers to a racial group in a derogatory way, what goes before my eyes are the faces of my friends who might fit into that stereotype. It isn't an abstraction to me. I'm not going to let it pass. I just can't.

I would consider it a personal favor if everyone would be give my site and it's guests their kind consideration.

It may be that I'll be open for business tomorrow, barring coding issues. They're testing for credit card use now. I will put up the url as soon as I have it established for sure. The site's name is tentatively going to be Slid's Super Sex Comics or Slid's Swell Super Sex Comics. I have yet to nail down a price, but it will be affordable and competitive with other solo artist sites.

Holy crap, it's actually happening!!!

How do bloggers get people to comment?

In the last three years, give or take that I've had this blog up I've never had much luck with getting folks to comment one way or another on my posts . That's despite the steady flow of traffic this blog gets. People poke their heads in, come and go and make nary a sound. I haven't got a clue as to why.

I go on other sites like Wildebeest or Glassfish or on and on, and there are comments on every single post. Several!

Whatever they're doing to get folks talking is working. I just wish I knew what it was.

I suspect that I may not be getting many comments because I don't have much time to go on forums to talk or belong to a community of any kind, so no one really knows me well enough to feel free to speak up. Could that be it? I barely can scratch together enough time to update a blog, much less go on a forum, so it's really beyond me right now to do much about it. But it would be nice to know that that's the problem and not my work. I may not know until I do start talking on a forum.

Another may be that I don't write much on my blog, just toss things up and get back to work. There is not much to hang a comment on in this blog I suppose. I just figure no one has time to read my nattering since few folks comment so I have just got in the habit of posting pictures without much comment. That may be working against me, I don't know. But in the past when I have expounded, my comments haven't excited much commentary.

Interestingly Basta has the same exact problem, as he commented on a recent post on his own blog.

Until then if anyone who is a blogger themselves, or anyone else for that matter, could offer their thoughts, I'd really appreciate it.

Site content and Milfs Attack!

The above are from separate stories I've done for myself in years past. These stories may appear on my site, but I'll redo them for you folks. These are sort of works in progress. The first from the story, Collecting, and the next two from Publicity.

Okay, now. Web gurus are currently sweating over coding on my site and I hope to see some action in a few days. Glad I'm not a web guru...sounds like a headache.

So the question is WHAT is gonna be on this site.

've had lots of advice. All of it good. As far as I can tell. I'll know more about which advice was good and which was bad after I've had the site open a few months. At this point I can only guess at what I should major in on this site.

The hands down most common piece of advice I've heard is: Superheroines! It's the most stable and the most popular of genres according to conventional wisdom. That seems sensible to me and I do need to play it safe.

But

I can't stand to only do one thing. HATE it!

So what I want to do is a site that does indeed major in Super Sex, but also has a plethora of other subjects. I want to do this because I am wondering about the age of the conventional wisdom I've gotten about the superheroines. It could be a saturated market, I'm thinking, based on no evidence what ever. Just my gut. It may be that I can bring a new wrinkle to it... oh hell, I know I can... and it is a versatile genre with possibilities for catfighting, straight sex, rape, bondage, humiliation, on and on. But I have noticed that probably the most popular thing on my blog (which has precious little superheroine stuff so far.) is Milfs taking down young fellas. I know it's sure my favorite thing, which counts. It can fit into superheroines too...but I think I'd like to see milfs put on their own shelf as well.

MILFs are notably absent from the x-rated comic choices out there. Well not absent exactly, but what is out there in internet land majors largely in the incest area featuring alarmingly young...boys, really...which I totally have no problem with but apparently the Lord God VISA does. I'll need to avoid that. Why go hunting trouble? And it really isn't my thing anyhow.

What I'm talking about is the neighbor lady that gets horny and dives on the inexperienced pool guy working his way through Junior College. Maybe a dorm superintendent that has a nice thing going on breaking in the geeky dorm guys. A Harry Potteresque story about a young fella with a magic ring that makes any woman he is attracted to want to jump him on the spot. A super genius with x-ray specs and an aphrodisiac formula. You get it.

No femdom, no incest, more of a general audience thing. Showtime with hard core elements. I like it, you like it, so why not?

One reason I can think to hold off on that is that the marketing approach says to do ONE THING. But don't most people like more than one thing? I do...I think a site with variety would be well received and fun to do. So fuck the marketers. They wrecked radio after all.

So I'll be doing that MILFy thing...I gotta think of a name for it that isn't Japanese. I'll do it along with Superheroines, horror, sci fi, fantasy, and anything else I can think of. Look for stuff that you've seen from my sketchbooks in particular. That's my databank that I've spent years loading up with oodles of ideas. And drawings.

Oh yeah and my sketches will be on the site too.

Long day putting together and writing photostories for Catfight. Another tomorrow. Trying to catch up. Lots of delays this month what with digging up new work, (found some) and getting stuff ready for the website.
Some thoughts and off to bed.
Judging by download numbers, folks like the stuff I've done for myself the best. Timmy Quick is huge (I didn't see that coming!), as is Martians, and The Ring. Catfight stuff comes right in with them, especially Battle In The Burbs which isn't a pure catfight piece but has the MILF thing going on. Also ISM continues, and for some reason, Coach Cocker. He makes me laugh.
I haven't even gotten to Superheroines much yet...wonder what'll happen with that.
Why are these things so popular? I don't know if there's one common thread, but I do pay attention to what folks like: fun things. Things I like. I'm gratified when folks like the things I do too, as in this case. I guess it's best to follow my bliss here.

I hope I get lots of company for the trip! And no, not just for sales sake. Doing what I do, well it's nice to know I'm not all alone and "talking" only to my self.

It's a good feeling to know that.

Website announcement and Timmy Quick sketch

My website has suddenly gone into warp speed after all these months of getting nowhere and is coming together even as you read this. Which is why I've been laggard about this blog this week: I've been busy gettin' things together.

What happened? Eh, long sordid story short, the stars all aligned and fate has forced my hand...which started unexpected things happening, which led to some folks out there being amazingly helpful and generous exactly when I needed it. I'm just gob smacked!

Anyway, bottom line is that in roughly two weeks my website will be up and running!!!

Hard to believe, I know.

Media Nine is creating a website for creators to have their own paysites all under one 'roof'. I will have my website there with my own url and everything I need to easily put up my work each week.

I'll be continuing to have work appearing on Monsterbabes as well as posting my own content on my new site for a while, at least until I go insane... which shouldn't take very long. (I'm halfway there now!)

I love the movie "Humanoids From The Deep". Directed by Roger Corman from the 70's, starring my all time favorite B movie actor, Doug McClure. Anyway this inspired an idea I sketched out one day of these monsters from the bay that had an eerie mating call that upon hearing it would drive any woman out of her mind with lust! Any male nearby whether it be monster, or fella, or lady would then get really lucky for a good long while! Like the eighteen year old neighbor kid pictured here!

I intend to do this story on my future site. One of many stories I have that I will revive from my notes.

A sample of the stuff I'm working on for my web site. This from the story, "The Code". Y'see, theres this no foolin' around rule for superheroes that's enforced by the omnipotent and super prudish Enforcers of the Code. What's that mean? It means NO NAKIDITY! And really unsexy clothes.

On your left, you see the Mad Scientist reacting to a wardrobe malfunction that is gonna cause him misery, judging by the Enforcer in the door way behind him. You can see the hero's boredom in the panel on the right... There are no thrills here for anyone.

Anyway,don't worry. It all comes unravelled.

Just a quick one today. I just went over my stats and was pleased to find that the most popular pictures in the last week or so were my little sketches. A really pronounced preference for those has made itself known. This goes to the idea that I've assembled my own unique audience that's different from, though includes the audience that hangs around the M9 sites.

I see that there's an audience for my sketches and that I should be selling my sketchbooks as collections in pdf downloads. And I see that what I've done just for myself is at least as popular as anything else I've done. This is encouraging.

Ten more up today.

Do enjoy this page from a story I did for myself some years ago. It's a rough that I should finish someday. Maybe for my site. From my personal vaults, a story titled: "The Ring".

It's a kind of Harry Potter gets busy tale of a young man who's parents are mysteriously killed and he ends up in the care of an abusive, hateful distant relative and his wife, who just happens to be stacked like a brick shithouse! I came up with this idea years before HP ever showed up. Eerie coincidence?

At the old family mansion, hidden away in a storage shack the fellow is tasked with cleaning up, he discovers a small box containing a ring that belonged to a his great Uncle. His great Uncle had a magic act in the 1920's and many of his old props are stored in this storage shack.

Wearing the ring imparts the lonely eighteen year old with a tremendous attractiveness to women he's attracted to himself. I mean a really, really big attractiveness! I mean women start throwing themselves at him and tearing off his and their clothes! Starting with his stacked shirt tail relative and then her equally endowed sister, and then...so on and so forth.

This from the scene he gets his cherry popped, with a thunderstorm going in the background. As all cherry popping should be done, IMO.

More of this magical story will show up here in the near future!

I love ghost stories! Ghost stories inhabit my favorite corner of the genre of Horror. Among other kinds of spooky tales, I love to do stories about ghosts found along lonely stretches of highway. Could be 'cause I grew up on one of those. You can still run across the skeletal remains of old grocery stores, gas stations, and in this case, diners. A friendly waitress with nothing to do can lead to a fun time bent over the counter. Or you can end up with an ending to the encounter you didn't expect, as in this story from Horrorbabes a few years ago.

Talk about getting together with an older woman! Just make sure she ain't too old!

Lips study and 'how to draw stuff' stuff

Okay, so it ain't porn, but this is a study I did a while back. Lips...in various extremes.

I copied a few lip drawings I liked and looked at and copied a couple of photos, and when I got the hang of it, I started inventing my own. That's how learning to invent things works. Build a bank of knowledge and your intuition becomes more educated and useful while you're drawing. The studies you have done then become valuable reference later on. You will make use of these references more than you'll use books on how to draw since it is reference you've made just for yourself and with your intentions in mind. Problems get solved and progress is made this way. BTW, it's not the only way to work on problems, but it's the most effective, IMO.

At first you may notice that when you're drawing something you've studied that you may be able to notice when something is wrong...but what exactly is wrong will still be elusive. This feeling of wrongness appearing when you draw is an enormously important step forward in developing your intuition, so don't let the frustration you may feel get you down. Feed it, work it, and you'll get better at spotting elusive problems later on.

Over time you'll develop and perfect a procedure you use to get to the bottom of something that's bothering you.

Often that procedure consists of a mental check list of anatomy and design principles. "Are the features lined up right?" (this one works more often that you'd think in the case of faces.) "Is the face too big for the head?" "Do I have enough dimension in this head or is it flat looking?" "Do I have enough variety in the abstract shapes that comprise what I'm drawing?"(Learn to see shapes instead of the literal thing you're drawing) "Does the figure have a clear flow and do the shapes contained in it have direction?" (I've got to talk more about this one. Alan Davis is a good example of an artist who has a lot of 'flow' in his work. Find some of his superb work and see if you can figure out what I mean. ) And so on.

Instead of principles you may flip the drawing upside down so you can see the work from a new angle and you often can catch problems that way. Or go take a break. Or go work on another drawing and come back to this one. Or wad up the paper and throw it at the cat. (A personal favorite.) Hop around and cluck like a chicken. (That doesn't do anything. I just want to see if I can get you to do it...)

It may sound like a lot, but with practice and mileage it gets manageable. More on this over time.

Yeah, and there's a free robot arm thrown in too.

I've never found the book again and I figure that it's probably not violating anyone's copyright to do this.
