Been preoccupied
I havent' tended to the blog in a while. I've been taken up looking for some part time work and it's been time consuming. It left a gap in posts here that I'll be trying to fill in.
Here is a sample from Of Superheroines that I posted on the website last night. I was trying to do this one as a 'painted' piece, but it just wasn't working and I've lost patience with trying alternative techniques and the blind alleys it keeps taking me down. So I've decided that my pencilled work is really my best work; I loose something in inking a drawing that I keep when I just do the pencils. So I'll be finishing the story out using this way of doing things, which to me looks tons better and is far more satisfying to do. And is faster.
I'm mulling over Anon's suggestion about starting stories and sticking with them week to week until they're done. That means you might be seeing ISM less often guys. Or I could do three weeks of one story and one week of ISM each month. I may go with the latter. I'll decide and let you all know soon. Lemme know if you have an opinion. As always, input is much appreciated.

Here's a question...
I'm going to be doing stuff for Deviant art and Hentai Foundry, so I'm going to need to think of things to draw. This isn't always so easy. I basically need to get the hang of what would be good to do as a stand alone drawing or pinup. A situation, or scene, or subject for a good pinup.
So if you have a suggestion for what might make a good illustration, let me know. I'm not guaranteeing that I'll do your suggestion, but it may spark some inspiration on my part.

It's not looking good.
A couple of months ago I tried to rescue my website by doing pencil only work and doubling up on ISM stories. It didn't work.
Subscriptions leveled off for a few months and now my numbers really took a hit this month. New people seem to be canceling and aren't coming back. I've only had a small number of new subscribers this month, not enough to cope with the losses. I don't even know why, really.
I'll try adding superheroine stories after I finish up the current ISM. ISM will remain, of course. I'm also contemplating just going all super heroine. These are last ditch attempts at rescuing things before I have to shut down.
I've had a lot of tell tales. My low number of commissions. My subscription numbers have never gone up, just down. And I've only found one place that my stuff has even been pirated. They just don't bother with my work. I guess I'm kind of insulted.
Anyway, I intend to put my work on Hentai Foundry and see if that helps at all. It's kind of an ocean of artwork over there, one I'll likely be lost in, but I'll give it a shot.
I've also got a ton of competition. A lot of websites backed by studios in Brazil are up selling the same thing. Jim Balent's web comics cost 4 bucks a month. But he's Jim Balent.
Well, we'll see what happens.

Invisible Sex Maniac: Orgy vs Family Values 8, 9, 10
An early post this week on SSSC! I'm actually going somewhere this weekend so this goes up early. ISM continues possessing the innocent!
I'm learning a few things about how to get things to look slicker, btw. I'm actually pretty satisfied by how things look this week. Not a normal sensation for me.

Witchy...we hardly know you!
This sketch is one I did from an old Horrorbabecentral story I did back in 07 or 08, called the Witch Milf. It keeps popping up on my Popular Posts list, which is nice to see. She's an appealing sort, for sure. I imagine why people like her may be the idea of a witch milf or it may be that this sketch shows a woman with much bigger breasts than I normally draw.
So, what do you think? Do you think this character can use some attention at SSSC? Or should I just draw more women with gi-normous boobs? Or both? Or neither?

The Ring update
This week is going well but has a tighter schedule than I expected, so the revisions to The Ring installment of last week isn't just flying out of here as I hoped it might.
In the mean time, for all you out there that are wondering about the Ring, here is a pretty good panel from the ongoing kerfluffle that is Reddy's life!

The Ring has new pages up at SSSC
There's a new page 16 up as well as pages 17 through 20. I liked the pencil artwork on most of these so much I didn't want to mess them up by inking them. So what you have here are darkened scans of my pencil work...I never feel like I'm happy with darkening pencils. They always seem a little harsh compared to the gentle grays of a pencil drawing...but I feel more relaxed working with pencils. Hmm.
Anyway, here's a fragment from this week's installment. Reddy is mulling his sitch over a little. A nice set of problems, I'd say!

ISM Office Orgy
Here's a sample of the ISM Office Orgy just up on SSSC!
I'm kinda happy with how my shading is shaping up on this sample and in the story I just uploaded. I haven't liked the minimal 'empty' look that's been creeping in on my work lately. I also like the proportions on this piece: It's more stylized in that the head is large and the torso small, which gives it a nice light, cartoonish feel despite all the heavy shading. And small touches of half tone here and there help give things a softer look. I'll be exploring this as things progress.

Chicasderojo Spotlite on Ivan Reis
A new favorite artist of mine is Ivan Reis. They're coloring his pencils directly, an approach I've been disappointed with before but the colorist really pulls it off. The raw energy of the pencils is kept without sacrificing the clarity that inks often are needed to bring out. I love that!
Check out Mera, an untapped (as it were) asset (as it were) that DC has finally stopped ignoring apparently.
Check out Chicasderojo by JoseVC while you're there. I've been a follower of this blog for a couple of years now and really like it.
May have to put Mera in an upcoming Superheroine Combat. Hmmm.

The Final Sector 13
The final episode of Sector 13 is online at MonsterBabeCentral. It ends a nearly two year run on MBC.
BUT
Sector 13 will return to SlidsSuperSexComics in the near future. Stay tuned.
My next monthly feature for M9 will appear on Catfight Central. An as yet unnamed project, it will be serious in tone, centered around a sexy siren living outside the law. I'll have samples up as soon as they are available.

Delay is possible this weekend
Due to events out of my control this weekend, I may be unable to meet my Sunday deadline for this weeks installment of The Ring. Best case scenario is that I'll have a partial post on Sunday night and the rest to follow over Monday and Tuesday.
This really ticks me off, believe me. I'll do my best to get it to you as close to on time anyway.

Incest story post has over 3400 hits? WTF?
It's just the damnedest thing.
I have a few posts up on this blog that have individually gotten thousands of hits, presumably to download the pictures in the post. To me this means people are interested enough to bother downloading at least some of my work. Yet only a relatively tiny number of people sign up on my paysite.
I know I'm moving good traffic through here. I know hundreds of people a month move through my paysite. But I'm too embarrassed and disappointed to say how few actual subscribers I have over there. I've actually lost a third of my business over the last year since the first month I started.
I dont think anyone's even really pirating my stuff. I'm almost insulted!
We've gone on ad infinitum about how most visitors to my blog are only interested in free porn. But after a year up, my paysite has had less than .001% or less of it's visitors part with 12 bucks to see more. The percentage of subscribers is almost non existent, statistically speaking. It isn't traffic that's lacking, certainly. It isn't lack of depth at this point either. I don't think my work sucks that bad usually. I post every Sunday without fail.
What's missing? Is my work too boring? Is there too much of my amateur work up on my website samples?
Making more ISM stories has had zero effect on sales and ISM is some of the most heavily downloaded work on this blog
This is really baffling.

The Ring, Chapter one
I decided to ink this one since so much of the original pencil work I did just needed to be tweaked a bit here and there. Otherwise there was a lot in that original that should be captured directly and not lost in a complete re translation. So here is the first installment of the first chapter of Terry and his mystic Ring.

ISM Gets a Workout wrap up.
ISM GAW finishes up this week. More ISM to come next month.
Speaking of lineups, three new stories and a new bsic lineup will start up this month. To wit:
Next week: Super Battle Broads: BAtgirl vs Cat Woman.
The week after: The Origin of the ISM
Then the first chapter of the Ring begins.
And finally another stand alone ISM.
That's right: Two ISM stories per month for now, a superheroine slapdown and a wildcard tale each and every month. The wild card will be milfs, horror, scifi or superheroines.
And to keep the flow strong I'm moving to pencils only on all of my work and will be moving to more 5 page weekly posts.

The last of the Gradys for now.
I wrapped up the first chapter of Meet the Gradys today. It will return at a later date. It's gonna be making room for the new version of The Ring. If you want to see a preview then go to SSSC and look in the free section under Slid's Personal Comics. I'll be doing a redo of the story along with a conclusion that, as you might notice if you go look at it, is not present. Why isn't it present? I didn't finish it, that's why! So I'm as interested as you are in finding out what happens.

Another question
I'm thinking that what my site (SSSC) needs is more output. Instead of three, five pages a week, and stories back in the five page limit. Do two ISM stories a month and two superheroine stories along with them. Right now what I'm getting are a lot of revolving door subscribers that will likely come back later for another dip into the pool and leave again.
Now with the time available to me I'd have to abandon the ink and color on my stuff and do it in pencils only in order to do five a week.
This isn't finally decided, but I could sure use some input.
Sid
